Our Legacy
Model Laundry isn’t just a business; it’s a part of South Texas history. Our story began in 1906 when William Putegnat, a visionary from Brownsville, Texas, saw an opportunity to provide top-notch laundry services in a growing community. He established Model Laundry along the Rio Grande River in downtown Brownsville, and soon, we became a trusted name throughout the region.
After World War II, William’s twin sons, Bill and Barry, took the helm and expanded the business to new heights. Moving to the west side of downtown Brownsville, they introduced uniform rentals while continuing to excel in dry cleaning and linen services. Under their leadership, Model Laundry grew, establishing plants in five major cities.
Today, we are proud to continue this legacy. William Putegnat V, the founder’s great-grandson, has reimagined the business to meet the needs of modern customers. Still rooted in the same South Texas soil where it all began, Model Laundry remains committed to the tradition of service that has defined us for over a century.
